Honest advice on smart locks
Not every smart lock is as secure as its advert. Some sacrifice mechanical strength for gadgetry, and a smart lock on a weak door or a snap-happy cylinder is still a weak door. I make sure the mechanical security underneath is right first, then add the smart layer on top, so you get the convenience without losing the protection.

Frequently Asked Questions
Will a smart lock still open in a power cut or on a flat battery?
Yes. Good smart locks run on batteries, not mains, and warn you well before they die, most also keep a physical key override or emergency power contact. I only fit ones that fail safe; a lock that strands you when the battery goes isn’t worth having.
Which smart locks actually fit a uPVC multipoint door?
Fewer than the adverts suggest. A lot of the popular ones are built for American-style doors and won’t drive a uPVC multipoint mechanism. I fit models made to work with your existing gearbox and handle. I check your door first, so you don’t buy one that won’t fit.
Are they easy for a burglar to hack?
For a decent lock fitted properly, no. The weak points are cheap models, weak passwords and out-of-date firmware, not someone hacking your door from the street. Burglars still overwhelmingly go for force, not electronics. I’ll steer you to reputable brands and set it up securely.
