uPVC & Door Lock Repair in Harrow
A door that won’t lock, a handle that’s gone floppy, a key that won’t turn – most door faults are a worn mechanism, not a whole new door. I do door lock repair on uPVC, composite and wooden doors across Harrow and the surrounding areas, and I’ll fix rather than replace wherever it’s sensible. Labour from £89, no call-out fee, fixed price up front.
Doors take a hammering – every open and close wears the mechanism a little more, until one day the handle spins or the key won’t throw the bolts. Caught early, most are a straightforward repair. (Looking for windows? That’s now its own page – see window lock repair.)

uPVC Door handle is loose?
On most occasions, its a first sign that you have problem with multipoint lock or door alignment. If your uPVC door handle is loose when the door is open or closed, sometimes is spinning round. If the handle stuck in one position and not moving at all or its goes only half way up when closing. Save yourself of the trouble and call Andrew the Locksmith for a fast and valuable solution.

Frequently Asked Questions
My uPVC door only locks if I lift the handle and force it — is that the lock or the door?
Usually the multipoint mechanism or the door dropping slightly, not you doing it wrong. When hinges or the door drop a few millimetres, the locking points stop meeting the keeps, so you end up lifting and shoving. Sometimes it’s a worn gearbox inside. I’ll tell you which before I touch it — often it’s an adjustment, not a replacement.
Do you replace the whole mechanism or just the cylinder?
Depends what’s failed. A worn or anti-snap cylinder is a quick swap; a failed multipoint strip or gearbox is a bigger part. I carry the common ones and I’ll show you what’s actually gone, rather than replacing the lot to pad the bill.
How long does a uPVC lock repair take?
Most cylinder swaps and alignment fixes are done in 30 to 45 minutes. A full mechanism replacement takes longer, mainly matching the exact gearbox to your door — and I’ll make the door secure in the meantime if a part needs ordering.
Can you fix it, or will I need a whole new door?
Nine times out of ten it’s a repair, not a new door. uPVC doors get written off far too often by people who’d rather sell you a door than fix a £60 part. Unless the frame itself is damaged, I can almost always get it locking properly again.
