Andrew was really excellent. Fixed the front door yale, and garden door locks, for a good price. Efficient, quick, came on time, communicated well. Excellent service from Andrew. I could not unlock my garden gate it was stuck in the lock position. Called Andrew on the Wednesday and he visted the same day. New lock required, not an off the shelf lock so Andrew had to ordered it. The lock was delivered on the Friday and Andrew fitted it the same day. Absolutely outstanding service from Andrew. Came out the same day, quickly diagnosed the problem with my old UPVC door and fixed it there and then.

What impressed me most was his efficiency. There was no unnecessary going backwards and forwards, no trying different things just to increase the job, and no confusion over the cost. His pricing was reasonable, straightforward and clearly explained.

Will a smart lock still open in a power cut or on a flat battery?

Yes. Good smart locks run on batteries, not mains, and warn you well before they die, most also keep a physical key override or emergency power contact. I only fit ones that fail safe; a lock that strands you when the battery goes isn’t worth having.

Which smart locks actually fit a uPVC multipoint door?

Fewer than the adverts suggest. A lot of the popular ones are built for American-style doors and won’t drive a uPVC multipoint mechanism. I fit models made to work with your existing gearbox and handle. I check your door first, so you don’t buy one that won’t fit.

Are they easy for a burglar to hack?

For a decent lock fitted properly, no. The weak points are cheap models, weak passwords and out-of-date firmware, not someone hacking your door from the street. Burglars still overwhelmingly go for force, not electronics. I’ll steer you to reputable brands and set it up securely.
